Description:When we are in the wilderness, our questions are always the same. How did I get here? And whose fault is it? But in the wilderness, none of that matters. Blaming others, ourselves or God won't help. Besides, God's purposes for the wilderness are always the same--to bring intimacy and humility. We have to stop asking how we got here, and ask God what He has for us right here, right now, in this wilderness place.

Description:In the words of Bruce Springsteen, "Fear's a powerful thing baby, it can turn your heart black you can trust. It'll take your God-filled soul and fill it with devils and dust." Fear casts out love in our lives, and ultimately casts out God. But what would it look like to embrace the love that casts out fear? To follow the beauty and wonder that you've experienced in your life all the way back to the source--until you find your belovedness?

Description:There was a time in your life when you knew what it was to know beauty, awe, wonder. Where were you? What were you doing? Were you a boy on a bike? Or a girl on a trampoline? Or something else entirely? Whenever and wherever we lived without self-consciousness and fear, God was closer than we realized. And coming to the sense of identity God intends for us has a lot to do with recapturing those moments and those places. Before coming home, there first must be a moment like the prodigal son had, when he "came to himself."

Description:What if we have a bigger role in the coming restoration of the creation that we have dared to believe? The world is such a dark place sometimes, and we like everyone else, often assume the role of commentator on the darkness we see. But what would it mean for the people of God to really live in hope for the people and places He intends to restore? What would it mean to look into the darkness, unflinching, refusing to bury our heads in the sand--and yet speak a word of divine hope into it? Is it possible that when the sons and daughters of God prophesy, we build bridges into the future?

Description:The promise of eternal hope is lovely in theory-if we can make it that far. So many of us are better at starting things then we are finishing them, And in the meantime we have to find a way to make it from now until then. Between the life we have now and the life that is yet to come, there are so many things that seem uncertain. But what is certain is that nothing yet to come will separate you from the love of Christ, and that God himself has promised to complete the work He started in you.

Description:For many Christians, there has been a lot of talk about "flying away" on "the good old gospel ship." But what if that is not where the gospel story is taking us? What if the gospel is not about getting people ready to go to heaven when they die, but getting them ready for when heaven comes to earth? And what would that mean for us? There are so many things about the world and about ourselves that are broken, it seems there will be never enough time to make things right. But for those in Christ, is time running out...or might we have all the time in the world?

Description:Mary Magdalene sees Jesus weeping outside the tomb, and she thinks that he is the gardener. It turns out she couldn't be more right. God has come back to where things started--to the garden, to finish what He started. But this time instead of walking with a man named Adam, He is walking with a woman named Mary--a signal that new creation is going to be very different indeed.

Description:Salome and Mary of Clopas don't get a lot of press in the New Testament. But they are known for an extraordinary thing: when everyone else abandoned Jesus in the end, they stayed by the cross. What would it mean for us to learn from their witness and not hide our faces from those who suffer? In the words of Henri Nouwen, "Human beings can keep their sanity & stay alive so long as they know there is at least one person is waiting for them."

Description:When the sinful woman comes to Jesus, Simon the Pharisee can't get past her sin. But then Jesus asks him the question, "Do you see the woman?" Because Simon doesn't see the woman for who she is, he can't see Jesus for who He is either--He can't believe He's a prophet. What if whether or not any of us can see the Lord rightly hinges on whether or not we can see the people around us rightly?
